About us!
Sobre nós
The Casa Portus, was born based on a family dream, in which after difficult times we wanted to preserve in our memory the Porto family house and the person of one of the most important doctors in the village...
On April 20, 1944, Mário Augusto de Sousa Botinas Porto, Sambrasense doctor, was born.
"Márinho" as he was known, served his country in the Colonial War in Angola in the Northern Zone (Zala - Nambongongo) and in the Eastern Zone (Casage) as a Ranger Military Ensign in an exemplary way and with great merit. After more than 18 months in the theatre of war, he became available on 25 December 1970.
He graduated in medicine at the University of Coimbra in 1976 and since his internship, through the Medical Service to the Periphery and until the beginning of his career as a General Practitioner, he served in several hospitals from north to south of the country.
In 1980, he was placed at the district hospital of Faro, in the Paediatrics Service where he stayed until 1982. This period in this service led to his great dedication to the younger members of society and to the consultation of Child Health.
After many years at the beginning of his career as a doctor in permanent contact with people, and always close to the community, he worked for many years as a General Practitioner at the São Brás de Alportel Health Centre.
This is a house with a history dedicated to loving and helping others.
